Thomas Rogers Booth DiariesĪ collection of diaries written by Thomas Rogers Booth from 1861 through 1889. Transcribing these documents not only makes them more accessible, but it is also a great way to learn history from the people who experienced it. In addition to the political and military news of the day, these periodicals also published a wealth of other newsworthy items and advertisements that impacted the lives of Americans in the Founding Era. You can explore the “breaking news” of the American Revolution through contemporary newspapers. These newspapers are important sources of unique information about the Founding Era that we cannot find elsewhere. A selection of these documents will be featured in the upcoming Inside the Vault program on December 2. Cards feature categories such as Persons of Interest, Events, Allies, Atomic Warfare, Characteristics of Communism, and Supporters of Communism. Each card is a form of propaganda against the Communist Party at the height of the Cold War. This project contains the back of 48 trading cards that were originally included with gum from the Bowman Gum Company. TRANSCRIPTION PROJECTS Bowman Gum Company’s “Fight the Red Menace” Trading Cards

It did save time but, was not good enough.Īfter a lot of trial and error, long nights manually correcting things, and mixed results, I discovered Simon Says (thanks Google) A.I. I figured out a 28-step process (not kidding) to use speech recognition software to get markers (locators) into Avid. I knew there must be a better way and decided to take this particular problem on. This kind of work was still done by hand. When I worked as an assistant and was tasked with marking up scripted and/or improvised dialog from production records, some with multiple actors riffing off of each other, I was stunned that the transcription and logging process was so painful.

I have worked in post since 1991 and animation since 2014. and a small team of freelancers, tuning up and prepping text files for the Avid. What made that glowing review possible was not an army of workers, listening, typing, copying, pasting, and marking up dailies in the Avid. This is what Julie Rogers told me when I asked her for a testimonial. Instead we were able to work with MIGUMA to do all the heavy lifting, leaving my crew to keep their workflow going. We would normally bring on an additional assistant, rent an additional room and rent and set up an additional Avid.

“On every animated feature there comes a time when we steel ourselves for an avalanche of production records.
